One of the things that makes Carlton, Noble Pig tasting room’s home base, such a “Great Little Town” is just how many tasting rooms and restaurants there are here, all nestled within a handful of small-town blocks.
Come visit us at Noble Pig, taste our Pinot Blancs, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noirs with some finely paired nibbles, then you can spend the rest of a lovely afternoon exploring other uniquely Oregon wines and food – all the while leaving your car right where you parked it. What could be better?
How about staying the night?
Carlton also offers some truly delightful Bed & Breakfasts and Vacation Rentals. You don’t need a designated driver when you’ve got a nice little home away from home right here in town. Visit an extra tasting room or two, linger till sunset, then decide where to go for dinner and what to curl up and read afterwards.
For cozy and close by, you can’t beat the Carlton Inn Bed & Breakfast. Karen Choules’ longtime dream of owning and operating a Bed & Breakfast has come true in a gorgeous 1915-ish house just a few blocks down Main Street from Noble Pig. There are four big, comfy and fully appointed rooms to choose from, each with a private bath. Free WiFi blankets the house, you can pick out a movie, or dial back the tech all the way with a board game or something from the lending library. Then of course…breakfast. Karen haunts the local farmer’s markets and honor system farm stands for the freshest locally grown and raised items possible. Eggs from her own chickens – it doesn’t get much more local. And don’t pass up the homemade granola.
Also nice and close to Noble Pig is R.R Thompson House, just a few blocks off of Main Street. A beautifully restored 1936 house, the Thompson House offers two roomy suites and three beautifully appointed rooms. Marble whirlpool baths are involved. The breakfast menu changes daily, with an enduring affection for the many berry farms we have nearby.
You’ll have to make breakfast yourself, but The Winery Lofts offer four very tasteful and cozy vacation rentals perfect for a weekend getaway or a business pow-wow, right on Main Street, right in the heart of town. In fact, if you’re staying at one of The Lofts, well, “Howdy, Neighbor!” – you’re just three doors down from the Noble Pig tasting room. There are actually quite a few vacation rental homes available in and around Carlton, here's a look.
Just outside of Carlton are a couple more B&Bs. About halfway between Carlton and Newberg, Abbey Road Farm Bed & Breakfast offers a truly unique experience: “Silo Suites” -- five modern suites inside of three converted grain silos, nestled on an 82 acre working farm (is there anything cuter than a baby goat?), complete with sweeping views of Yamhill County’s rolling hills. Up on a hilltop overlooking a 25 year old vineyard outside of Carlton’s sister town of Yamhill is Yamhill Vineyards Bed & Breakfast, offering two guest rooms with private bath, a garden spa and deck, and of course, vineyard tours. In early summer they grow flowers as well as grapes, which are shipped to flower markets all over the country – but you can enjoy them first.
So come out to Carlton and visit us at Noble Pig, then relax and visit some of our friends, take your time, get a good night’s sleep and a farm fresh breakfast, then do it all over again!
